Dutch Manufacturing Activity Falls For Fifth Month

Dutch Manufacturing Activity Falls For Fifth Month - Working in the Dutch manufacturing sector declined for the fifth month in a row in July, data from a survey by Markit Economics and nevi showed Wednesday.

The seasonally-adjusted Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector remained unchanged at 48.9 in July, indicating further deterioration of operating conditions. A PMI reading below 50 indicates contraction in the sector, while one suggested by growth out.

Orders received by companies fell for a fifth consecutive month, although the slowest pace in this order, mainly reflecting weaker domestic demand.

Output at factories Dutch fell for a fourth consecutive month of July. The modest decrease in production was partly linked to the continuing weakness of underlying demand.

Input costs companies fell sharply during the month, mainly due to lower prices for oil products and steel. Producer prices fell for the first time since November last year showed evidence of continuing amid competitive pressure data.
